Botanicals & the ritual loop
What's inside.
Why it works.
RESPIRA blends plants with a centuries-long history of traditional use into a modern, draw-activated ritual designed to address the behavioural loop of smoking — not the chemical one.
Mullein
Core botanicalUsed in traditional European herbalism for over 2,000 years as a plant associated with respiratory comfort rituals. Verbascum thapsus is the backbone of the RESPIRA Clear formula.
Thyme
Aromatic supportThymus vulgaris has been used in traditional aromatic preparations across Mediterranean cultures. Its warm, herbal character grounds the mint in the Clear blend.
Mint
Sensory signalMenthol's cooling sensation engages the trigeminal nerve, creating a distinct sensory moment on every draw.
Lavender
Rest formulaLavandula angustifolia — traditionally associated with evening calm and relaxation rituals.
The behavioural loop
Why the ritual matters as much as the ingredient.
Research on habit formation describes a cue–routine–reward loop. In smoking, the cue (stress, coffee, boredom) triggers a physical routine (reach, hold, inhale, exhale) that delivers a chemical reward. RESPIRA preserves the routine while removing the chemical component.
The cue
An automatic trigger — after coffee, during a break, end of a meeting, a stressful moment. The brain sends a familiar signal: reach.
The routine
Reach. Hold the pen. Inhale. Pause. Exhale slowly. This physical sequence is deeply encoded — RESPIRA provides the same four-beat motion without nicotine or tobacco.
The reward
A deliberate pause. A slow, full exhale. A botanical aroma matched to the moment. The loop completes — the craving is answered by the ritual, not the substance.
Important: RESPIRA is an aromatherapy ritual product, not a medical device and not a nicotine-replacement therapy. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition. If you are working with a healthcare provider on smoking cessation, continue that programme alongside RESPIRA. The ritual aspect is complementary, not clinical.
The ingredient library
Eight botanicals. Five formulas. One ritual format.
Each ingredient carries a traditional history and a defined role in its formula. No synthetic fragrances. No nicotine. No tobacco.
Mullein
Verbascum thapsus
Mullein has been used in traditional European folk medicine and herbalism for centuries as a plant associated with respiratory wellness rituals — from dried-leaf infusions to aromatic preparations. In the RESPIRA Clear formula it provides the base aromatic character of the draw.
Traditional association: respiratory aromatic rituals · Used across European herbalism for 2,000+ years
Thyme
Thymus vulgaris
Thyme has a long history in Mediterranean herbal traditions as an aromatic plant used in culinary, ritual and wellness preparations. Its warm, herbaceous character provides depth in the Clear blend and complements the cooling effect of mint.
The thymol compound found naturally in thyme is responsible for its distinctive aroma — a note that many adult users associate with purposeful, ritual moments.

Mint
Mentha × piperita
Peppermint is one of the most studied aromatic plants in the world. Its active compound, menthol, activates the TRPM8 receptor in the trigeminal nerve, producing a distinctive cooling sensation that makes each draw feel clean and distinct.
In olfactory terms, mint engages the limbic system — the brain region closely tied to memory and emotional state — making it one of the most effective scent anchors for ritual moments.
Traditional association: refreshment rituals, olfactory-limbic engagement · Used globally for 2,000+ years
Lavender
Lavandula angustifolia
Lavender is one of the most extensively studied aromatic botanicals in the world. Its primary active compounds — linalool and linalyl acetate — have been the subject of aromatherapy research exploring their role in promoting a sense of calm during evening rituals.
In the RESPIRA Rest formula, lavender provides the defining aroma of the evening draw — the scent signal that tells your nervous system: this is the last moment before rest.

Melatonin
Exogenous melatonin
Melatonin is a hormone naturally produced by the pineal gland in response to darkness. The Rest formula includes a low supplemental dose to support the timing of the body's natural sleep-onset signal — turning the evening ritual draw into a functional part of a wind-down routine.
Note: melatonin is a registered food supplement in the EU. The Rest formula is not a medical product and is not intended to treat sleep disorders.
Berry blend
Mixed berry extracts
The Renew formula uses a blend of berry-derived botanicals chosen for their rich aromatic profile and traditional association with vitality and recovery rituals. The warm, fruity aroma makes Renew the most approachable formula in the range for first-time users.
Traditional association: vitality, recovery ritual · Common across European and East Asian herbal traditions
NAD+
Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide
NAD+ is a coenzyme found in every living cell and plays a role in cellular energy metabolism. Levels of NAD+ decline with age and with lifestyle stressors. The Renew formula includes NAD+ as a recovery-minded addition to the botanical blend — associating the ritual draw with a moment of self-restoration.
Note: RESPIRA Renew is a wellness ritual product, not a supplement or medical treatment. The NAD+ content is aromatherapy-grade.
Caffeine
From guarana & green tea
The Rise formula includes caffeine from natural botanical sources — guarana (Paullinia cupana) and green tea (Camellia sinensis). These plants have been used in traditional morning rituals across South America and East Asia for centuries as natural sources of gentle, sustained alertness.
Rise is clearly labelled as containing caffeine. It is recommended for morning and early-day use.

Calm blend
Chamomile · Passionflower · Lemon Balm
The Release formula is built around three plants with a long traditional history in afternoon and after-work calm rituals: chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla), passionflower (Passiflora incarnata) and lemon balm (Melissa officinalis). Together they create a soft, floral aromatic profile that signals: the work day is over.
